VIDEO OF THE RUNNERS WORKING ON THA CARTER 3

Let me start this off by saying that I really hate Lil Wayne.

That being said, if this track makes the album (and I can't see how it possibly couldn't) that shit will be jammin, hell, it already is.  The Runners are definitely those dudes.

If anyone on Cash Money or Universal is reading this, if you care about sales, you better not leak this track all early (3 months before the video even drops) like some of these stupid labels.

HIP HOP GETS ETHERED

Spotted via Nah Right.

So recently on the Bill O'Reilly show, he had a small forum via satellite with a black community leader and Hip Hop activist Bakari Kitwana.  They were discussing the fact that Nas, a rapper that has violent lyrics (murder, murder, murder!) and a gun charge on his record, performing at a benefit for the Virginia Tech victims.

The vid starts with a nice little piece highlighting some of Nas's most violent lyrics (though I wonder what the hell did Jay-Z getting shot in the 99 problems vid have to do with anything).  Then, Bill O'Reilly went on to say that, it was Virginia Tech's own students (predominately white school) that had the problem with the rappers showing up, not just a bunch of old uptight bastards looking for a chance to beat up on rap music.

Though Kitwana is a knowledgable dude, his argument was pretty shot, and seemed unprepared to give justifications to pretty basic questions that he should have known were coming.  Then to top it all, he didn't even attempt to address Nas having a gun charge on his police record.

I'm guessing by the tone of this so far, you know which way I'm leaning.  Yeah O'Reilly is an asshole, bigot, and has a past just as questionable as the people he targets.  But even through all that, I'm not going to use that as an excuse to automatically discredit what he was saying in the inverview.

You see, we, the hip hop audience, don't think of Nas as a violent rapper, especially compared to alot of other artists out there.  We think of him as a conscious rapper, and kind of just disregard the murder talk we hear from hear him spit on occasion.  But I mean, even though they did go around and pick out his worst lines, he still had to say them in order to for them to be used against him, and I think we all know that if they wanted to, the could've picked out even more lyrics, but just stopped there probably for time issues.  O'Reilly made a good point about the fact that even though he loves Stephen King and thinks of him as a brilliant writer, he would not think it appropriate to invite him to VT right about now, just based off of the content of his books.  So at least this time, Bill wasn't just targeting hip hop, he was making a great point.

Most of all, it was the students themselves that are speaking out about the performance, so hell, you can't even argue with that right?

Basically, hip hop heads need to stop going on the O'Reilly Show, because we get sonned everytime we go.  Yeah, it may be entertaining to watch, but at the end, we end up looking just they way the want us to--dancing around the actual topics, but in the end, having no real justification for whatever it is we happen to be defending.

SNIPER FEAT. MEMPHIS BLEEK - AROUND THE WORLD

Bleek has gone international.

Greek rapper Sniper called in Memphis Bleek to guest on his new single, "Around The World".

Video looks pretty cheesy (to match the beat), even by 2007 standards...girls, cars, champagne, yachts, jacuzzi...it actually looks like one of those fake rap videos from one of those beer commercials.  Anyway, watch and expand your horizons.

PEEDI CRAKK - MY HOOD IS GREAZY

11371921871d5szyrq_2

Two posts about Peedi Crakk in the same year?  Wow.

Featuring Q-Tip and Cassidy, Produced by Swizz Beatz.

Hopefully, this is the "street single", and not the real single, because it has no commercial viability in it whatsoever...other than the fact its produced by Swizz Beatz.  But then again, if you pay for a Swizz track, I guess you'd wanna make it the single right?  I guess then you could call this the "club banger" because it has that I'm A Hustler feel, with the usual Swizz style, plus the "whut, whut" chanting in the background. The beat is straight, Peedi rapping in his unorthodox style, Q-Tip on the hook, and Cassidy spittin punchline after punchline.

That being said, if this is the lead single, expect Peedi's album to get pushed back like an unlicensed barber.

PAC-MAN, THE RAPPER

070813pacmanAfter shocking the world with the announcement that he was signing a contract with TNA wrestling, Pacman Jones shocks (some of) us one more time with the news that he plans on rapping and dropping an album.  Sez allhiphop:

"... it takes a team player to make plays happen so I am bonding with my staff and recording artists to make this company a success," Pac Man Jones told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "I went within myself to find a place to release my talents while I filter through my career from all of the things that have taken place around me."

"...

The outing is slated to make stops in Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama as the entertainers host community events and forums at various high schools and universities.

"Looking from the outside in, I have been the example for many to see the poster child if you will; and from that sentiment the 'Posterboyz' group name was born."

The lead single from the Posterboyz debut album is titled "Let it Shine" and is scheduled to be released on Aug. 27."

Let me tell you how bad the rap game is right now.  With this news, Pacman Jones is already in the middle class (so to speak) of southern rappers...just solely based off his the name of his group (Posterboyz, with a "z"), his label name (National Street League Records), and his first single (Let It Shine, guest appearance from Wayne, maybe?)...hell, that sounds like some shit thats already on 106 and park anyway.

NEW TRACKS FROM WC, LIL WAYNE

281x211 WC - Lets Get It On (Produced By Rick Rock)

Am I wrong for being more interested in the Rick Rock track than Dub-C rapping over it?  However, I was a bit disappointed in the track, I seem to like all of Ricks beats except his West Coast tracks (his bread and butter).

L_c829778dfc2057d4279fd5181966f830 Triple C's feat. Brisco and Lil Wayne - Pill Poppin

A track about Pill Poppin.  So this is how you want to introduce yourself to the market?

In case you didn't know Triple C's stands for Carol City Cartel, who also happen to be Rick Ross's weedcarriers.  As if making a track about pills wasn't enough, the beat is pretty disposable (one keyboard synth playing three notes on top of 808's), and they had so little faith in their own talent, they had to get Lil Wayne on the track, and only on the hook at that.  So if their track does happen to get a little play, it will only be for a short time (because there's a million songs like this), and only because Wayne's voice is on the hook.

I swear I'm going to start putting these new artists on game really soon, like, the being next Wendy Day of this shit.

edit:

My bad, I put the WC download for both links, but the Triple C's track is now up.

PLIES = GOAT?

The internet truly reminds you that no matter how bad your music is, somebody on the internet will still like it.

50 CENT SPEAKS ON LIL WAYNE, KANYE'S ALBUM PUSHED BACK

Yo, it'll be interesting to see how "The Carter 3" numbers stack up against "Curtis".  50 may be looking a little better now, since hiphopgame just reported a rumor that Kanye's album will be pushed back.  Peep:

We just received word from a credible source that Kanye West's album Graduation has been pushed back. Nothing 100% official which is why we put a '?' in the title.

Though I really kind of hate Lil Wayne, I'm sure his album will be better, simply because he's copying greatness (Jay-Z), and following the Blueprint (pun intended) laid out for him (rumored collabs with Swizz, Kanye, Timbaland, etc.)  Meanwhile, 50 is at that stage where he starts working with pop artists and new producers trying to "branch out", which almost always ends up being a shitty album.

DJ SMALLZ FEATURING EVERY RAPPER TRYING TO GET A DEAL IN FLORIDA - WELCOME TO THE GUNSHINE STATE

Dj20smallz201_2Featuring: Acafool, Brisco, C-Ride, Dirtbag, Duece Poppi, Dukwon, Dunk Ryders, Flo-Rida, Grandaddy Souf, Haitian Fresh, Jacki-O, Joe Hound, J-Shin, Papa Duck, Piccalo, Plies, Smilez & Southstar, Smitty, Stacks, Suave Smooth, Papa Chino, Swordz, Tampa Tony, Tom G, Trinity, Triple C's, Triple J, Wes F.I.F., and Young Cash.  And not in that order.

Ok so some of them already have deals (Dirtbag, Plies) or had one (Smilez and Southstar, Jacki-O), but for the most part, these are guys that have all pretty much been on various mixtapes throughout the south, and are affiliated with some established rapper or crew and are all about on the same level.  How nice that right after I post about Whoo Kid and Papoose talking about southern rappers sticking together because they can't stand on their own two, the south drops a track featuring 30 rappers on it.

PAPOOSE TO PEEDI CRAKK: STOP USING THAT STUFF ON THE BACK OF YOUR NAME!!!!

44043358_e82d939b8e_o That headline sounds much better than just plain ol' Papoose interview part 1, doesn't it?

Anyway, the interview I posted a few days ago was just part 2 of the radio show.  In this half, its pretty much more of the same thing, more jokes, more clowning, and taking calls.

A dude from Philly calls in during the show, and informs Pap that Peedi Crakk has been talking shit about him on the radio.  Sohh has a good roundup of his reckless talk:

You know who else is corny for the record? Papoose is horrible, I don't give a f**k what anybody talk about. Papoose is trash."

"Pap, you garbage," Peedi added, pointing to the camera. "Ain't no disrespect to you dog but it's business. Shout out to Kay Slay, I know he's your old head. I f**k with Kay Slay. They be beefing this ni**a like he's that ni**a. That ni**a is horrible, my son rap better than you."

"My son's five years old , he'll murk you" he continued. "I don't know why Jadakiss did a song with that ni**a , Kiss you trippin'"

Ouch!

HURRICANE CHRIS, YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE!

Hurricanechris_2Sez Hurricane Chris to AHH:

"My name comes from battling. I come from battling. That’s why I’m standing here. I would be going against all these dudes and they’d say their rhymes then I’d say mines and destroy them. After it was over everybody would be quiet. I’m like a storm, like a hurricane. Because a hurricane will destroy everything then after the storm hits everything is real quiet."

I don't know about you, but I've never heard absolute quiet after a good freestyle battle.  In fact if someone got "destroyed" in a battle, wouldn't it be the exact opposite?  Plus the lyrics from this song don't exactly ooze with punchlines, unless you consider "Its so hot in the club that I don't got no shoes on" a hot line.  Chris, you're a garbage, gimmicky rapper, trying to get every buck and sex every hoodrat you can get before your 15 minutes are up, so stop faking like you have any substance or anything different to offer.
